I have had the wonderful opportunity to be raised in an outdoor oriented family. My father works for a water and plumbing company and my mother is a wildlife biologist for the state. Both have had boats as part of their lives since childhood and first gave me an introduction to sailing when I was just months old. I have been addicted to the water ever since. As a family we do lots of backpacking in the mountains, sailing in the Pacific Northwest, and traveling internationally. My travels have taken me to numerous places from Alaska to Tierra del Fuego and have allowed me to work with various people all over the world. I also enjoy writing, boat designing, animals … and have played the violin for over 9 years. I see my round the world voyage as the start of many other adventures and look forward to contributing toward a more global community. I am training extensively for the nonstop solo voyage, including sailing solo and crewed for thousands of miles offshore in all conditions.
